From January 14 to February 1, 2019, 23 students from the Australian universities of Flinders, Adelaide and Queensland are attending the “Wasaa Academy” winter school dedicated to cutting-edge shipbuilding fields: artificial intelligence, virtual reality and robotics.
A study program managed by a consortium of six Breton higher education institutions
This study program is managed by the “Wasaa” consortium (Western Alliance for Scientific Actions with Australia), which comprises 6 Breton higher education institutions: ENSTA Bretagne, ENIB, Université Bretagne Occidentale, École Navale, IMT Atlantique and Université Bretagne Sud.
This cooperation goes hand-in-hand with the collaboration between Brittany and South Australia in the field of defense and is based on the intergovernmental agreement signed in Adelaide on December 20, 2016, by Australian Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull, and French Minister of Defense, Jean-Yves Le Drian.
The Wasaa Academy winter school has the financial support of the French Embassy in Australia and was selected for the “Creative France Australia short program”.
The program is an opportunity to strengthen the ties between Brittany and South Australia in the field of higher education.

For the undergraduate, graduate and PhD students taking part in this program, it is an opportunity to benefit from Brittany’s excellent shipbuilding training programs and learn about the culture of a maritime region.
In addition to cutting-edge training in artificial intelligence, virtual reality and robotics, visits to industrial companies are also included in the program as well as several cultural and social activities and an introduction to the French language.
