The military flag handover ceremony

Defense
On 10 March 2020, the armament research and technology military student engineers will come together for the flag ceremony: an official, formal event where the third year IETA students hand over the flag to the second year students.

The flag handover continues tradition and conveys attachment to the nation

In front of the military authorities of the region and community representatives, the young officers of the 2021 cohort will receive the flag into their care from the 2020 cohort.

4 years to become an IETA

  • A year of human and military training « year 0 »

After preparatory classes (« math sup, math spé » in advanced mathematics and sciences) and their admission to the school through the competitive entrance exams to graduate engineering (Mines-Télécom) schools, the IETA students follow human training with their fellow polytechnic school students. This enables them to gain a true insight into the deployment of systems and equipment in the field that the IETA will design, tailor and have built by industry or maintain in operational condition. This is also an enriching social experience.

  • 3 years of general engineer training including a specialization

The ENSTA Bretagne training includes a solid general grounding in sciences, technologies and human sciences completed by progressive specialization from a vast range of specialist subjects: embedded systems (including informatics, robotics, cyberdefense, sensors and signal processing), naval architecture, hydrography, pyrotechnics, vehicle architecture and engineering/management programs, taught at ENSTA Bretagne; specialist training in aeronautics is given by ISAE-SUPAERO in Toulouse, and chemistry and biological modeling are studied at Palaiseau, the Ecole Polytechnique and ENSTA-Paris.

IETA TRAINED TO INNOVATE FOR DEFENSE

The engineers in armament research and technology (IETA) develop major defense programs within the Direction Générale de l’Armement (DGA) or French Procurement Agency. After technical functions (expertise, studies, testing), these young men and women engineers rapidly gain positions of responsibility in leading defense programs, in the design and creation of hi-tech systems which equip the military forces.
