As Hugo BRUYAS PEÑA was moving towards a career as an international project manager, with mathematics gradually taking up less room in his daily life, he has written a book on real analysis: around 600 educational pages covering definitions, essential theorems and their demonstrations, with the aim of making each chapter accessible.

During his second year of a preparatory class for Grandes Écoles and in the context of lockdown, Hugo wrote index cards in preparation for the competitive entrance exams. For each course, he identified the key points to be remembered, as well as essential tips and methods found in the annals of the latest competitive exams.

Little by little, the cards grew and complemented each other. Within a few weeks, his writings took the form of three books several hundred pages long: one on math, one on physics and one on chemistry.

During his 2nd year at the ENSTA Bretagne engineering school, he came back to his books.

When I took up the math book again, I saw that it wasn't suitable enough, especially for students graduating with a high school diploma. So I revised and reworked everything to make it more accessible.

Hugo took advantage of his gap year to work on the book in parallel with his international internships. Every day, he wrote a few pages, and by the end of the year had produced a book around 600 pages long. Back on campus, he shared his work with Marie BRIEC, the head of the school's media library, and Christophe Osswald, a mathematics associate professor. After proofreading, the book was then finalized.

This book was written by a student for CPGE students, whatever their major. I propose a different, more accessible approach. The book is color-coded to make it easier for students to understand. My aim is to make you want read the book and make you want to finish each chapter.

While the book can be consulted at the ENSTA Bretagne media library, it is not yet available in bookshops. Discussions are under way with publishers.

I wanted to get to the end of this math book as it was the subject I enjoyed most in prep school. I'm now turning the page to prepare for my professional life.

Currently a student in the "Engineering and Business Science" major, Hugo has chosen to complete his studies with a year's specialization in international management with trilingual training in business schools in Spain, France and the United Kingdom.
