Arriving in an unfamiliar country and city can be a challenging experience. Here is some general information to help you prepare for your arrival.
A welcoming community
The Student Union has an ‘international’ committee whose members are tasked with welcoming and helping international students. On the day of your arrival, they can pick you up at the train station or the airport in Brest.
They regularly organize outings and meetings to facilitate students’ social involvement in campus life.
International students can also get help with administrative procedures such as opening a bank account.
Every year, an international student event is organized during the last quarter of the year. This is an opportunity for students to share their culture with their peers, for example by bringing traditional dishes or presenting major cultural differences, particularly with respect to the educational system.
Housing
The student residence located on campus offers 222 rooms, 2 of which are equipped for students with disabilities. Some of the rooms have a shower and restroom and some don’t (shared shower and restroom facilities on landing, with 3 showers for every 11 rooms).
The rooms are all furnished and have several cupboards, a bed and a desk. Bedsheets, blankets, breakfast and a WI-FI access are included in the rent.
Alternatively, you can rent an apartment in Brest. A streetcar line provides easy access to the school (Mesmerrien station).
Dining
The dining hall located on campus serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, except during the school’s closure period (approximately 4 weeks a year). Normal opening hours are as follows:
- Breakfast (for students staying at the student residence): 7:30 am – 9:00 am
- Lunch: 11:45 am – 1:15 pm
- Dinner: 6:45 pm – 8:00 pm
Transportation and access to the campus
ENSTA Bretagne is easily accessible by streetcar (Mesmerrien station). Bibus is the public transportation service provider (buses and streetcars). Several fare options are available: single ride, weekly or monthly. There are preferential rates for young people under 26.
