Master's degree programs co-accredited

These Master's degree programs are open to students studying at ENSTA Bretagne and at university. ENSTA Bretagne offers these programs as double degrees for students studying for a Diplôme d'ingénieur (MSc in Eng.) as they provide an ideal preparation for completing a thesis.
For the most part, classes are taught on the ENSTA Bretagne campus by the school’s research professors.

Important note: Applications to these Masters must be made through the universities with which ENSTA Bretagne is co-accredited to grant the degrees (see details below).

Jobs and careers

Young ENSTA Bretagne engineers are quickly hired in the fields of activity and jobs that interest them, which is a strong sign of the quality of the courses and their appropriateness in relation to the expectations of companies. ENSTA Bretagne engineers have a strong innovation culture and are able to master complex technological systems.

A multidisciplinary school recognized in the most innovative sectors of activity

Activity area

Data from the Conference of the French institution of higher education (Conférence des Grandes Écoles) national survey (2021 graduates)

  • Survey conducted at the start of 2023 on the class of 2022
  • 70%: response rate to the survey
  • 81% permanent employees
  • Full employment reached quickly: majority before graduation,90% within 2 months
  • ENSTA Bretagne's employment rate is much higher than the national average for engineers (source CGE 2022): +4 points  (national average in 2022: 93%).

Successful employability

The figures from the annual employment survey conducted among young graduates confirm this each year:

  • ENSTA Bretagne graduates quickly move into jobs with responsibilities.
  • They work in France and abroad, for SMEs and large groups, in design offices and in high-tech companies, in many sectors of excellence: maritime, automotive, aerospace, digital systems, defense and security...
  • They work in a variety of engineering professions and jobs: design, development, architecture, expertise, testing, calculation, studies, R&D, research, shipyards, project management, entrepreneurship, quality, etc.
ENSTA Bretagne : Recruter

The ENSTA Bretagne Alumni Association runs the ENSTA Bretagne graduate network, and accompanies them throughout their career and all through life, with many services on offer. The association’s office is on the school campus, which makes it easy for students to speak to over 5000 former students.

Some memorable moments throughout the year:

  • The reunion weekend when several former cohorts are invited to come back to Brest and discover the latest changes to their school. It is also an opportunity for “old boys and girls” to speak to the students and really get a lot out of the reunion weekend.
  • The « student/graduate » forums (to prepare for professional life) and « internships & jobs » enabling ENSTA Bretagne students to meet the graduates, to network and discover many career possibilities.

Industrial research chairs and shared laboratories

ENSTA Bretagne has partnered with businesses to create Industrial Research Chairs and shared labs. The goal of these partnerships is to work together on shared technological concerns (through the creation of roadmaps) and R&D, and to export applicable methods and approaches into the processes and industrial tools of private partners.

Mechanical sciences

ANR Industrial Chair in « SELF-HEATING »

Led by ENSTA Bretagne (Institut de Recherche Dupuy de Lôme) with Naval Group and Safran, including the P’2 Institute. The aim: predict the in service performance of Aircraft and Naval System.

Gustave Zédé

In partnership with Naval Group, this lab carries out research into fatigue in materials and naval structures.

Computation mechanics

ENSTA Bretagne has joined the PSA Group’s « Computational Mechanics » Open Lab, alongside Mines Paris, the Ecole Polytechnique and ENSTA Paris.

Censta BZH

In partnership with Centigon, this lab carries out R&D for automotive pyromechanisms, vehicle armoring and digital modeling of ballistic impacts.

EXCELCAR

Industrial innovation accelerator, with Stellantis. Find out more

THOR

This joint laboratory with Arquus is dedicated to the energy chain of army vehicles and their bases. Find out more

Information & Communication Technologies

GIS CORMORANT

Thales founded this scientific interest consortium (GIS) with the scientific community in the West of Brittany, to study 3 areas:

  • Smart processing and sensors
  • Human-system interaction and human factors
  • Autonomy of maritime systems

Transnum

« Transnum » aims to create new autonomous systems to observe and monitor the marine environment. It was created by Thales, ENSTA Bretagne and ISEN Ycréa Ouest.

Waves

This shared lab, in partnership with Thales DMS, works on improving distributed and autonomous sensor network performance for detection and automatic identification in the marine environment. One of its main areas of focus is the development of reliable and secure robotic technologies.

Lateral

This lab is shared with Thales TOSA and carries out research into technology for microwave frequencies, antennas and guidance for embedded systems.

Naval systems cyberdefense chair

At the beginning of 2019, ENSTA Bretagne joined the naval systems cyberdefense chair of the Ecole Navale, alongside IMT Atlantique, Naval Group and Thales.  The research focusing on mathematics and computer technology, aims to detect attacks and protect and defend equipment from attacks.

SENI

The activities of this joint research and innovation laboratory between Naval Group and ENSTA Bretagne concern the design and development of intelligent naval embedded systems.

Studies for the offshore wind turbines of the islands of Yeu and Noirmoutier

Conducted with the French Biodiversity Agency (OFB). Find out more

ANR AI OCEANIX RESEARCH CHAIR

Improve understanding of ocean dynamics and develop efficient monitoring and surveillance tools to meet today’s challenges.

Weapons programs

The French Government defense procurement and technology agency (DGA) and DGA/TN (naval techniques) in particular rely on ENSTA Bretagne’s research potential in terms of mechanical science, IT and the humanities. Innovation programs on future weapons systems are conducted by teams bringing together ENSTA Bretagne research professors and the DGA’s R&D teams.
