ENSTA Bretagne : Enstartups, partenaire du French Tech tremplin 2020

ENSTARTUPS selected as a partner structure to the French Tech Tremplin program.

The incubator answered the « Call for a Show of Interest” proposed by French Tech. This program aims to give the under-represented access to entrepreneurship in the Tech ecosystem.

The startups who will benefit from the program will be selected during the autumn, then from the list of program partners, they will be able to choose the incubators or accelerators which will be their hosts.

A new start-up led by an ENSTA Bretagne co-operative student

YMADE has just joined the incubator. Yann, its creator, also started his ENSTA Bretagne co-operative (apprentice) engineer training at the same time. He is developing an innovative, high- performance electric motor bike.

In total, there are nine start-ups at various stages and in very diverse sectors, currently hosted by the “ENSTARTUPS” incubator. They benefit from a stimulating environment: ENSTA Bretagne’s facilities, regular mentoring and tailored advice.

YMade (NEW) : an electric motorbike in wood

Yann Morin has just joined the co-operative engineering student program at ENSTA Bretagne and the ENSTARTUPS incubator.

A mechanics enthusiast, he has designed and made an electric, high-performance motor bike from start to finish. Its chassis is made of wood and epoxy resin.

A request for approval has been made to the DREAL. Gear and brake testing with the UTAC is also on the cards.

The YMade motorbike has many advantages: it is low cost, reduced maintenance and has a longer estimated lifespan.

(NEW) SKRAVIK: explorer sailboats

A new start-up hosted by ENSTA Bretagne, Skravik is led by Tangi, Marie and Charles who are all professional sailors and have a scientific background.
The  activity concerns the design of sailboats for new maritime operations such as oceanography, for example.

They are currently working on their own yacht as a demonstration of proof of concept. They were assisted by three ENSTA Bretagne interns on the basic vessel design and the creation of a 3D model.

Arkane (new) : processing for radar & artificial intelligence

Is a start-up created in February 2020,  which specializes in radar antennas and the associated algorithms with the addition of artificial intelligence.

Their innovative products are destined for many industrial sectors: telecommunications (5G), Defense, Space…

Last June, Arkane won the CNES R&D Challenge. The jury was won over by the pertinence of their solution and awarded them a prize of  €50 000 to develop their concept over a year.

Sarra and Norbert are also working on a demonstrator for one of their clients. It could be deployed sometime during 2021 at a major Brest event.

Fil & Fab : a new life for fishing nets

Since 2017, the young company located its production in Plougonvelin, which enables them to grind down the nets.

At the same time, it has launched its first product. A pair of French-made sunglasses has just been marketed as part of a co-branding initiative with Armor Lux and Acuitis (an opticians and hearing care chain).

There are four models available in the shops, priced at €90.  Each one has the name of a Breton island: Ouessant (Ushant), Bréhat, Houat and Cézembre. They are now planning to leave the incubator for the accelerator.

Fil&Fab will still be able to profit from the Enstartups mentoring committee if they so wish.

Gwilen : new ecological and sustainable materials

The Gwilen project is on adding value to port marine sediments by creating new ecological and sustainable construction materials.

The initial part of its activity is the creation of designer objects using ceramics made from this material. Several will be presented during the Paris Design Week at the beginning of September: a coffee table, a kitchen work top..

Interior designers are already interested. In the longer term, Gwilen is looking to propose construction materials that could replace concrete and which come from unexploited local resources.
Tests to establish the resistance and lifespan of these materials have been carried out and are set to continue.
Gwilen should soon have access to a manufacturing facility at Brest Port.

Ianira : the acoustic locator for divers

This summer, Ianira finished developing an acoustic locator for (civilian or military) divers called ACTIUM.

This enables them to relocate the position of an underwater object ( a mine, a wreck, an underwater site…) found a few days or weeks beforehand.
The locator is the result of two years of work by the ENSTA Bretagne teams on issues of impermeability, pressure, optical control…. The product will soon be launched.
