The first thing to do is to download V-REP from Coppelia Robotics's website : http://coppeliarobotics.com/previousVersions.
For example, we can create a folder for V-REP, get the archive and decompress it ads follows:
mkdir tst-vrep cd tst-vrep wget http://coppeliarobotics.com/files/V-REP_PRO_EDU_V3_6_2_Ubuntu18_04.tar.xz tar xvf V-REP_PRO_EDU_V3_6_2_Ubuntu18_04.tar.xz cd V-REP_PRO_EDU_V3_6_2_Ubuntu18_04
You we can first have some play with the existing robots using the predefined scenes.
cd V-REP_PRO_EDU_V3_6_2_Ubuntu18_04 ./vrep.sh
